Hey, we all remember what we each were thinking back in 1999-2000, back when we routinely had political debates back on the old group. We all remember what we all, in our own heart of hearts, were thinking was likely or unlikely, what we all thought was not worth worrying about, or too unlikely to happen, or whatnot.

People said lots of things when we were debating whether invading Iraq was a good idea or not. People said lots of things when we were debating whether electing Bush or Gore was the better idea. People had lots of opinions about the dot-com "revolution". The list goes on. Some people had worries; other people dismissed them. The "nice" thing about history is we get to actually live through it. And we get to look back and reflect on what we thought back then, and judge whether we each worried too much -- or not enough. Whether our fault was being too pessimistic -- or too optimistic.

That's the nice thing about history. Wait long enough, and the consequences of your choices come to pass.

It is such a very American thing, to be so skeptical of their government. It is one of that nation's core values.
