Am I the insane one here?

So, yesterday I was informed that it's time for my five year reinvestigation. Those of you who know what this means understand, those who don't, don't need to.

The hilarious part is that I submitted the paperwork for my current level on Sept. 10, 2001, and a little over two years later I was finally approved. Then the process started for my special access bits. Which, until an hour ago, was still in adjudication. I was approved. After my current standing goes back up for reinvestigation.

Contractors...Third Class Citizens 'R' Us. Six years and then some, from start to finish. If I were a GS, this would have taken less than three months.

For what it's worth, the investigation for my clearance is still ongoing. It's been nearly two years since I submitted the paperwork. Back in September I received a phone call from an agent inquiring if I currently lived in Buffalo or Syracuse, NY. There was stunned silence on the other end of the line when I answered, "Los Angeles."

Within two months of my re-certification, I moved to an unclass program.

Previous COTR was not happy.

On the upside, my whole 5 year process only took about 5 months.

My two clearances took 2 months and 3 months respectively, though those were a long time ago.

My original clearance took 2 years. My upgrade took almost as long. The only good thing is that I had the original clearance when I started the job in the secure area. I couldn't have taken over a year as a red badge being escorted to the restroom.
