So, with Stewart and Colbert haveing been in reruns for the last two weeks, has anything happened in the world?

Seriously. Comedy Central has become my primary source for world happenings.

I am so pathetic.

Just do what i do and hit news.google.com.

Off the top of my head: Israel is withdrawing its blockade of Lebanon. Agassi played his final tennis match. Florida's Aníbal Sánchez threw the major's first no-hitter, and the first in 2.5 years, the longest period between no-hitters ever. The NFL season started last night.

For political happenings, there is always the dailykos.

Sadly I am even more pathetic than you because my secondary news source (behind the daily show) is the gossip column huffingtonpost. They have a bunch of people with decent credentials (Robert Sheer, several different congressmen including Murtha, Eric Alterman, etc.)

As with what I get from the daily show, go to huffpo for the story and then go research the facts elsewhere. Trust no-one. The truth is out there.

Plenty of news sources

For national and world news, Google News and CNN, with BBC for another view if I suspect there's more to a story than meets the eye. Chicago Tribune and New York Times, sometimes.

Fox is worthless, and the other news networks don't cover stories in depth.

OMG Paris Hilton got arrested!

There, you're all caught up now.

Good!

We were talking about Conrad Hilton yesterday; he built his third hotel in Albuquerque. All her great grandfather's business smarts sure got diluted by the time they got to Paris Hilton.
