My throat's been bugging me for a couple of days now, but I have no other signs that I might be ill. This normally means I've got strep. Yes, I get strep at least once a year, and it no longer does anything more to me than annoy me until I get around to going to see a doc for a Z-pak (I love Zithromax). I'm just about annoyed enough at this point to go have it taken care of.
I picked up Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation over the weekend. So far I'm diggin' it. I may finally get the usage of the semicolon cleared up; I have this vague uneasy feeling I've been misusing and abusing it all these years. I know I've been abusing the comma, but I do that on purpose and WITH a purpose. I don't mind breaking rules intentionally. The whole point of learning the rules is to know how and when they can and should be broken for greatest effect.
We went and saw The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe yesterday. Evan really liked it, and what with him having rewatched the Potter DVDs over the weekend, he might break out of his Star Wars obsession and pick up a more generalized fantasy obsession. The allegory, while not the blunt instrument of latter installments, is still pretty up front with the whole "self sacrifice for the sins of others and thereby killing death bit". Aslan is not a direct drop-in replacement for Hey, Zeuss!, but the story isn't meant to be direct. It's allegory people, not metaphor.
In other Evan related news,
robeli and I got the offical results from his eval Saturday morning. He has been officially diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. So basicly, this means he'll be fine as long as he can avoid people, since he'll view most of them as inconsequential idiots. The downside is having trouble relating to the few he'll actually want to hang with.
And now (see me abuse stupid English grammar rules! Live!), a meme:
( Gee, a lot of these titles look familiar... )
So, there we have it, your Monday Morning Update.
Stay tuned for further information as it becomes available.
