Temperature when I left the house this morning?

7F.

SEVEN.

That's -14C in countries with broken thermometers.

We won't get above the freezing point today. Chances are, we won't get above freezing for the next two to three weeks except on the occasional afternoon, and then not for more than a couple of hours.

I hate this time of year.

Oh, and it's a Fed holiday, so the building is on minimal services...which means it's fucking cold in here.

So...since we're a subsidiary of a Big Giant DoD contractor, whose logo is the corporate name in the ugliest shade of red known to man, I'm looking for contracts closer to home.

They have an internal system you can feed parameters in to and have it email you matches. Now, I get many of these a week, but all them require TS/SCI with either a CI or Full Scope polygraph (the Full Scopes are all in McLean...gee, I wonder WHO that might be, since the customer is never specified? Anyone know of a facility in the McLean PO that might fit?), and my SCI bits have been awaiting adjudication for over a year now, so I just watch them as they go past and wistfully wonder when I'll finally get to schedule my poly or get denied. I don't care anymore. Just fucking make up your mind already and tell me.

In any case, this morning I got one that 'matched' my parameters. Now, just so you know, I've got it set to send me anything IT related that is based anywhere in Northern VA encompassed by a rough triangle with the vertexes being Herndon, Falls Church, and Centerville. The job that matched?

Goes to Iraq and Afghanistan for multi-month deployments supporting the customer.

I'm pretty sure neither of those fall within my designated search area. But hey, at least this one has much lower clearance reqs! I wonder if they'll actually fill it. I can tell you this...it won't be with me.

Something is burning a few blocks north of the Capitol Building...and it's burning a lot.

We have a lovely view from here.
