What exactly is wrong with you?

Why the hell does iTunes need a full core and then some to PLAY AN MP3 FILE? What fucking crack are you people on?

You use iTunes to listen to things? I only use it to organise my iPhone.

I used to use it to organise my Music folder, but I reinstalled after upgrading to Win7 and I went and included _every_ media file on my hard drive in its library. I would try to limit it to just the Music folder, but I'm scared it will delete everything not in my Music folder if I do that.

Winamp. Winamp is still king of the castle when it comes to mp3s. And flac files.

Speech recognition and analysis software is pretty intensive, even today. I mean, you don't expect iTunes to play the music you want, do you?

But but but it also has to search for updates! And trawl your hard disk looking for non-DRMed music! And Jobs knows what else! And cripple other programs! And recatalogue everything! Or something! And and and!

It uses the processor cycles to fuel Jobs's RDF.

(But yeah, iTunes or Quicktime on Windows is no joy. Think of it as shoehorning almost the entire Mac OS Classic/Carbon environment on a wholly different OS. At least the memory usage is sane.)

If it didn't suck on Windows, who would buy Macs? Apple has no vested interest in making iTunes work well on Windows.
