This is Evolution Schmevolution week on The Daily Show, and last night they went for a panel form instead of a single guest. To paraphrase Stewart, because I can't remember his exact phrasing: "Were taking the path of making shit up as we go along, because it's worked so well for us, to a new panel format tonight." They had a guy who is a real scientist, a creationist, and a new age flake as their panel. It was fucking awesome.

I am in awe of that show. It's so fucking fantastic that it nearly defies description.

I ganked this from someone recently (probably [livejournal.com profile] theweaselking, but I don't remember and can't find it in his LJ): One Good Move's Daily Show archive. Last night's isn't up yet, but should be up soon.

The new age flake was unintentionally hilarious. What the hell was she talking about? 12 energy grids, surrounding 1? WTF?

Annette DVR'ed this for me, as I was busy online when it aired.

All I know is that Annette is positively frightening when she cackles for 5 minutes straight.

I loved how Stewart basically ignored her for the rest of the panel after hearing that, too.

Best part: After she finished describing her . . . whatever, he turned to the intelligent-design guy and said "Now why don't they teach that in school?"

You'll note that he never got an answer either, but Intelligent Design boy's pet fantasy has no more grounding in reality or supporting proof than the obviously insane woman's.

The world would be a much better place if people with Jon Stewart-like intelligence were in office.
