[profile] publius1's little gathering...

So, [livejournal.com profile] prince_corwin tells me that showing up for Kenn's little gathering is going to be fun, and I should make a concerted effort to attend. If he's got couch space he'll offer up, I can get a flight from DCA (National) to ORD (O'Hare) for as low as $144 (that's total price..before taxes and fees? $93) round trip. That's with a layover at DTW. If I want to fly direct, the lowest fare I can find is $222 total. I can get slightly cheaper flights from IAD (Dulles) to ORD, but if I fly out of National I can drive to work, park in the garage, and metro to the airport, and I don't have to worry about leaving my car in an unattended lot (the garage is secure and closed to all but parking pass holders on weekends and holidays) and it's free, where parking at IAD would add another $40 or so, or I'd be paying that in cab fares. If I can get rides to and from the airport in Chicago, this is very doable, from a cost standpoint.

The only reason I'm even entertaining the idea is because [livejournal.com profile] robeli, E, R's sister, and R's sister's daughter are going up to CT for Memorial Day weekend.

So, John, you got couch space?

As far as getting to and from the airport goes, the Blue Line and a bus will get you to within a few blocks of Kenn's. I meet David at the airport and we go back that way (when he comes to a Social at Kenn's).

I don't know the names of the stops off the top of my head, but I could certainly find them - or, if you're getting in sufficiently later than I on Friday, meet you at ORD.

Erm.

So technically, yes, I have a couch. With my travel schedule, though, I don't even know if I'm going to have enough time to clean the place up and make it liveable.

Be advised, though, that Kenn usually houses people for free.

A trip to and from the airport can definitely be arranged. For the record, the train you want is the Blue Line to the Red Line transfer, then get off the Red Line at Wellington and walk west on Wellington a few blocks to Racine. But rides to and from should be pretty easy.
