So, as part of my morning commute, I take the George Washington Parkway (a.k.a. the GW) south from the Beltway to US50 east at Rosslyn. For some reason, the US Park Police have decided to start a campaign for unsafe driving, if the big portable programmable roadside sign is to be believed, as it tells us there is currently an "Unsafe Driving Campaign" going on.

What if I don't want to drive in an unsafe manner?

Obviously, the wording of that sign was drawn up by an idiot. I mean, yes, I know what they meant to say, but god damn it, we have established grammar constructs for a reason. Language is supposed to facilitate effective communication, not hinder it.

On a related note, I was commenting to someone, and I can't remember who, that in a couple generations of people using stupid "txt" speak, English will have devolved to the point where, like Arabic and Hebrew, we no longer use vowels and just sort of imply them, further fucking up our ability to actually say anything to anyone else and even hope it has a chance of being understood.

Does this mean you're in the DC area currently? For some reason, I thought you were out in the world again. I only noticed this sign this week, which is why I ask, and I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed it before if it was there (at least, I would hope so).
