Today was our Spring Intramural Tournament. Evan and I both competed our Red belt form, Pyungwa. Neither of us knows Might for Right to 'Exodus' (colloquially referred to among JRI students everywhere as simply 'Exodus') well enough to even attempt competing in that form yet, so there we are. I took Silver in the 30+ division, and Evan took Bronze in the 8 and under. We did well. Neither of us placed in sparring, which is perfectly normal for us, and thusly the world shall not be coming to and end it would seem.

The difference between first and second in my division was one hundredth of a point, and a fellow student from our school took the Gold, so that's okay. Apparently, Evan would have taken second in his division, but one judge (there are 3 in every event) scored him far below the other two for some reason. We were competing simultaneously in separate rings, so I didn't get to see him perform.

My opponent in my one and only sparring match was the very same classmate who won the Gold in our form. The man is 6'7" tall, and someday, I'm going to figure out how to get inside his reach consistently. It wasn't a totally one sided match though, the final score was 3 - 5. I did take a knee to my left pec trying to get inside at one point...I'm faster than John, he couldn't get the kick off, but he still had his hands, and he managed to get a backfist in over the top as I was still geting close enough to plant a body punch.

Still, not a bad day. Our school took first over all, and our male and female sparring teams both took first as well in the Team Sparring event.
