Whenever I get a new toy at work, the first thing I do is take it apart. I am a professional; don't try this at home. Anyway, I pulled the NetApp apart to ensure that everything was in it's proper place and that all connectors were properly seated, etc (you'd be amazed how many cables and things come loose under the tender ministrations of FedEx, UPS, and the like), and what do I find?
I'll tell what I found. I found a random anti-static bag loose inside the chassis. This little bundle of random joy has a fibre-channel terminator in it. The NetApp is supposed to ship with one, and it did, in the bag of random connectors and power cords. I don't even want to know how or why a second one ended up floating loose in the chassis.
