I haven't updated much lately, but not much has been going on lately. I could post amusing anecdotes about my cat, but I don't have one, so I can't be a Crazy Cat Blogger type.

I did finish a re-read of Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy this week. I had forgotten just how good those are. I know the large majority of his published works are aimed at kids (mine loved I Was a Rat), but these really don't belong in the kids section, and yet, that's where they tend to end up shelved.

We finally broke down and got a Netflix subscription. Last time we rented from Blockbuster, it ended costing damn near $30 due to late fees (Why are some movies 2 day, some 3 day, and some 7 day? You know how fucking annoying that is?). This means I finally got around to watching Thank You For Smoking, which turned out to be awesome. I think I may waste some time today adding things to the queueueueueueue.

I'm just about ready to test for the next step on my way to second degree I think. This will put me at the halfway mark. I continue to make boards my bitch. They can't withstand the awesomeness that are my hands and feet. Except one. I still can't manage a break with a knife hand thrust (and I'm not terribly interested in turning my fingertips purple again in the near future). It won't stop me from advancing or anything, but I'm annoyed that there's still a break I can't manage.

It's 29^oF out there, and yet, all the shit that fell from the sky is liquid. That's just annoying. If it's gonna be this cold, and the sky is gonna drop crap on us, the least it could do is have the decency to freeze on the way down.
