Allow me to enumerate on the subject.

Some idiot from MDA emailed us something they shouldn't. This means dick to them, they're the .gov, they can fuck up all they want and nothing happens.

Except that we have to clean up over here. They won't even clean the idiot in question's desk, we have to pull our entire mail system, including the spam boxes and virus scanners, down, the clients, the blackberry enterprise server (why the hell do people WANT to be permanently leashed anyway? What the fuck is wrong with them?), and blackberries in question (this involves machines in 3 different timezones spanning from coast to coast).

All have to be wiped to the DoD's satisfaction. If we had sent the mail to them, we'd be looking at a DSS investigation of the incident and defending ourselves (we'll still have our DSS rep come out, they have to come ask us to promise that we really did scrub any and all affected systems). But not the .mil, oh no, those fuckwits will just laugh it off and go on about their day like nothing happened.

Assholes. The whole goddamn lot of them.

But hey, at least our mail system is almost entirely MSExchange now, so it's mostly someone else's problem.
