So, I had an appointment with the dentist yesterday. All went well. She said my gums look better every time (for newer viewers of this space, I went back to the dentist for the first time in 15 years two years back now. I had one cavity after all that time, but had a huge amount of buildup and it was causing the gums to recede) and to quit brushing so hard as I'm wearing the enamel off my teeth apparently. I have no cavities. I did have one issue.
Those of you who know me in the flesh more than likely noted the tooth on the bottom row that was out of place? It's been dead for a year or so now, and was slowly but surely being forced out as it was pushed forward by the teeth behind it. It's gone now. She was afraid to even try to polish it because it might very well have come out under the pressure it was so unstable, and the placement was interfering with my ability to properly clean the two teeth it partially overlapped. Getting the lidocaine shot was the most uncomfortable part of the whole process.
I hadn't realized how far out of position that tooth had gotten. My teeth are aligned properly when I close my mouth, and I hadn't even noticed that they weren't aligned properly since the shift had happened so gradually over the last few years.
