So, last night I tried to do a drop break (literally, drop the board, punch it in free fall and break it) with a back punch using my right hand for the first time since I sprained my wrist back in January. It did not go well. I still have power, but I've lost a lot of speed with my right hand, having not used it for much beyond typing for almost four months.
A drop break requires timing, speed, and power, in that order. My timing is off because I'm still punching as though my speed is at optimum, which it's not, and the whole thing just turns to Fail. I also bruised my knuckles, since I didn't break the board, but propelled it across the room instead.
I hate being injured, and the older I get, it seems the easier it is to hurt myself. At least the muscle I pulled back in November is finally just about healed. For now.
