So, with the slow dimming of my old OptiQuest (ViewSonic sub brand) V95 (18.1" viewable area, 1600x1200@75hz max resolution) having gotten to the point where it was getting hard to correct gamma in software, I picked up a new monitor on Sunday. Now I can't fault my old monitor, I've had it for eleven years. If it wasn't getting dim, I'd still not have thought about replacing it. But it did, and so I did.
I picked up a ViewSonic VX2433wm. It's a 24" 1920x1080 LCD. It's clear, bright, oh, and it has an HDMI input next to the DVI and VGA inputs. It's basically a 24" 1080p HDTV. Oh, and I'm sure
montoya can give me all kinds of reasons why it's an awful monitor, but so far I'm rather pleased with it. It was fairly cheap, too. It was all of $283 and change when all was said and done from Costco.
It's not the 1920x1200 that the laptop panel on my D820 is, but since I was running 1280x1024 on my old 4:3, this is still a nice improvement.
