So, with the slow dimming of my old OptiQuest (ViewSonic sub brand) V95 (18.1" viewable area, 1600x1200@75hz max resolution) having gotten to the point where it was getting hard to correct gamma in software, I picked up a new monitor on Sunday. Now I can't fault my old monitor, I've had it for eleven years. If it wasn't getting dim, I'd still not have thought about replacing it. But it did, and so I did.

I picked up a ViewSonic VX2433wm. It's a 24" 1920x1080 LCD. It's clear, bright, oh, and it has an HDMI input next to the DVI and VGA inputs. It's basically a 24" 1080p HDTV. Oh, and I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] montoya can give me all kinds of reasons why it's an awful monitor, but so far I'm rather pleased with it. It was fairly cheap, too. It was all of $283 and change when all was said and done from Costco.

It's not the 1920x1200 that the laptop panel on my D820 is, but since I was running 1280x1024 on my old 4:3, this is still a nice improvement.
