So, on Saturday, we had our company picnic. It was held at Camp Letts just outside Annapolis, MD. The food was standard outdoor grillin' type stuff: hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, bbq, potato salad, etc. The important part here is the bit where we headed off in to the trees.

See, they have this thing they call their "High Adventure" course. It's a bunch of stuff to do on ropes at ~50ft. up strung between the trees. I took the hard way up, just because. I only made it half way up on the first attempt, because I didn't want to grab the vertical cabling for leverage and wore myself out (it was steel braid cabling, which normally I wouldn't even THINK about grabbing unless I wanted to spend a week pulling steel splinters out of my hands, but this stuff was not the industrial grade cable I'm familiar with, so on the way up next time, I used it to my advantage). Next it was the Mario and Luigi style suspended islands in the air to move through. Then I took a zip line over to another platform (run, jump, and hope...it was a horizontal zip line, no gravity to help there). From there, I spent a while trying to traverse a crossing that was an hourglass shape comprised of a single rope, strung to look like three (one horizontal in the center, the two other crossing at approx. thirty degree angles off the horizon at the center of the crossing). I could see what I needed to do, but I couldn't manage to keep myself stable enough to do it. Eventually I had to go back and take a different path. It was similar to the hourglass, but much easier. Then it was time to exit the course. It was a hell of a lot of fun, and I'm still bruised and sore. The blisters are a nice reminder too.

Sparring tonight should be fun.
