Software that worked.

Vendors who cared enough to fix it when it didn't.

Once again, NetBackup is refusing to actually back stuff up. It insists that all my tape drives need to be cleaned, despite my having run shiny new fresh out of the shrink wrap cleaning tapes through them. There's nothing I can do that will convince it that these drives don't, in point of fact, need to be cleaned. All it has to do is a simple SCSI probe of the drives, and it would know this for itself. There was a time that it did just this. It would seem that once again, in the name of progress, shit that once worked has been broken for no known reason.

Fuck you Symantec; die in a fucking fire.

Which one of these is not like the others?
Which one of these does not belong?

Oh, I know. Veritas was GREAT to work with when I had a problem. Since they've been acquired, everything has gone to shit, which is to be expected considering that Symantec has the inverse of the Midas Touch.

Re: You posted an adult content warning...

Yeah, I noted that too. Facebook's terms of service require all users to be at least 18, however, they tacitly acknowledge that this is apparently not the case by mangling my title. It imported it as a note unmolested though. I find this amusing.
