I have a problem with this map, as the accents represented in the yellowed region are VERY different as you move around the south. North Carolina and Virginia (and VA and NC are so wide that eastern VA/NC have a very different accent than western VA/NC) have very different accents than Alabama and Georgia. Texas is of course, its own special place.
I don't actually have much of any sort of accent. It's a side effect of growing up in a place with a highly transient population due to an overwhelming military influence. It could be worse though, I could speak that annoying nasal whine that Marylanders tend to possess.
