A couple weeks back I picked up Serenity and the complete Firefly box set.

I never saw Firefly when it aired. I wasn't even aware of it until after it had already been canceled. It's a damn shame Fox killed it before it could find an audience, because it WOULD have found one. Over the course of last week I watched all of it and finished up with Serenity on Saturday night.

There's still a lot of this story left to explore. Too bad it won't happen.

Thye apparently had a movie sequel lined up based on the Serenity's box office take. Seeing as it was one of the few films to do worse on its first Saturday than it did on its first Friday and that it went on to do almost no sales in the second weekend, we're not likely to see that sequel. le sigh.

Hey there! Good to see you posting out in the open again. I have missed reading your posts. (I clicked over from here to your LJ and saw your fight with the lawn mower..:) )

I hope all is well with you and your family.

I know. That's why I said too bad. It'd be nice if Whedon could have convinced HBO or Showtime to pick this up (though preferably HBO, Showtime's not much better than Fox with its series).

I'm one of the handful of folks who watched the show when it first aired. It wasn't easy, Fox put it into tough timeslots, swapped in baseball without notice, and aired it out of order. That last one was the real killer. The way it was aired did a shit job of selling you on the characters. For its entire broadcast run I was always just a hair away from cancelling my recording of it. I think if Enterprise hadn't aired on the same night, I would have, but since I had to have a tape in the VCR anyway...

Fox execs sabotaged this show (because they hate Whedon, per rumors), and we all miss out on a little more joy in this world because of them.

Yep, and post Serenity, we have a whole new background of civil unrest and possible civil war to spice things up, but it'll never see the light of day.

Well, in 20 years, somebody might do a radical remake, a la Battlestar Galactica.

(I, too, watched it when it first aired, and it is downright PAINFUL to see so many people discover the awesomeness four and a half years too late.)

I am with you. I didn't know about the show until after it was off the air.
