Should it bother me when the Office Pro 2007 installer spits out the common error box asking if I'd like to close the program, or check online for a solution and close the program?
Oh, and thanks, Nvidia, for finally, seven fucking months later, releasing an updated Vista driver for this graphics chip (Quadro NVS 120M if you care); 3d performance has been upgraded from "Sucks Shit Through a Swizzle Straw" to "Fucking Blows", so thanks for that.

I recall reading that they intentionally fucked Google Desktop. Does their tool actually work? And specifically, if you have an ungodly huge archive of e-mail in their ungodly stupid e-mail format, can you do a search on it that is both specific and timely?

I don't know, I use Google Desktop. I think it took Google a week to fix any problems they may have had, and I didn't get this machine until March...ish, so they'd had time to fix whatever MS had broken. That and I have Vista's native indexing turned off. It's a pig.
Pointe the second:
My ungodly huge archive of email lives on an Exchange 2003 Server, so anything I do won't actually reflect the capability of the new local search function.

The mail I'm still trying to figure out how to import in to Outlook is Robin's from Mozilla, which stores everything in Unix mbox format. Everything on the fucking planet except for god damned mother fucking Outlook can import a Unix mailbox.
