I picked up GTA: San Andreas over the weekend. I love the current GTA line. The first one didn't do much for me, and GTA2 was more of the same, but GTA III, VC, and SA are so awesome. It's really hilarious that your wannabe girlfriend turns out to be the psycho chick from GTA III and she leaves with the guy you play in III.

VC took us back to the mid 80s, SA is set in the mid 90s, and III was set in the time it was released. This means we should get another installment soon, set in the current timeline. I like the way SA is packaged. It's also really nifty that it's on a DVD. It comes in this DVD box size booklet with instructions, background, maps, and credits.

Did I mention that Sam Jackson and Chris Penn do the voices for the corrupt cops who are running you ragged? The various in game radio stations are irreverant and funny, and the music selections are a good representation of the era in their respective genres. The talk radio segments are pure gold.

Being a DVD only title, the map is monstrous. You can drive around for hours and not see it all. And just think, even larger media formats are coming soon to a PC near you.
