I talked to my friend, the doctor, last night after class. It seems that ribs will pretty much heal on their own in proper place without me needing to do anything. I don't normally ask him about things medical, and he doesn't expect me to fix his computer, but I was feeling a bit unsure about the whole "this'll go away if you just ignore it and don't do anything that hurts" stance from my normal doc. He confirmed that this is, amazingly enough, one of those rare times when that's actually true. The only guidance I have is very simple: If it hurts, don't do it.

[livejournal.com profile] robeli and I went to see Derailed over the weekend. It was a good, solid suspense flick. It's well acted, has good pacing, and there are a couple of interesting twists in the plot. I figured out one of them considerably earlier than I suspect I was meant to, but that didn't hurt my enjoyment of the film any. If I hadn't been familiar with variations on that from other sources, I don't think I'd have gotten that one early.

I reread Monstrous Regiment over the weekend. It stood up much better on a reread than it did initially. I definately rate it on about the same level as Pyramids, which puts it in the 'average' column for a Discworld book, which means it's still better than a lot of other things I could be reading.

I don't remember if I gave my impression of Anansi Boys or not, so I'll put it here anyway. It was a fun, but light read. Definately from the same bits of Gaiman's head as American Gods, but not the same book over again. It's a good story and a fun read, if a bit short.

I picked up The Diamond Age over the weekend, since it's the one Stephenson book I've never gotten around to reading, but have been meaning to for a decade or more now. Hopefully its age won't affect it too much. I'll just have to think in the context of when it was written if I notice things.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith is out on DVD today. That was a fun movie. Total mind candy, but still a great film. May have to pick that up. There are some great lines in there, and hey, it's Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt having fun with their roles (and each other) on screen, while shooting and blowing shit up in the background!
