It seems that quite a few people out there are thinking the big O (not Oprah, the other one) is likely to pick VA governor Tim Kaine to be his running mate.
Now, personally, I don't particularly like Kaine. However, if Kaine were to go, the frothing Right Wingnut that is our Lt. Governor would get a promotion, and that'd be bad for us as a state.
If Obama wants to grab a VA governor for a running mate, Mark Warner would be a damn fine choice. He managed to fix most of the damage done by those serial idiots, Allen (of Macaca fame during the race he lost during the mid terms) and Gilmore, the man who damn near personally bankrupted our local systems all across the Commonwealth.
Kaine is no Warner. He's competent at best, he's not terribly progressive, and really, I don't see what exactly it is that he brings to the Obama camp that isn't already there. He's a lot like Jim Webb...only a Democrat because he sees the current Republican party as insane, but otherwise nominally conservative.
Not that it matters really. At this point, I'm so fucking irritated with the last eight years of neocon idiocy that I'll vote for a rabid monkey before I'll vote for anything with an R listed as its party affiliation on the ballot. Not that it matters. So far, it's looking like we're in for another 'I'm not Bush/McCaine' strategy, which worked SOOOO fucking well for them in 2004.
